Předběžná náplň práce

V debatách o ďalšom smerovaní Veľkej Británie a jej mieste v pobrexitovom svete je kľúčový koncept Global Britain. Reprezentuje víziu Spojeného kráľovstva otvoreného celému svetu – predstavu krajiny spájajúcej sa so starými priateľmi a novými spojencami. Táto práca vychádza z predpokladu, že idea globálnej Británie je do značnej miery postavená na (imperiálnej) nostalgii a idealizovaní svojej minulosti. Zaoberá sa prítomnosťou a formami tejto nostalgie v rámci pobrexitového diskurzu o britskom mieste vo svete a ďalšej zahraničnopolitickej orientácii. Jej cieľom je analyzovať konzervatívny politický diskurz ku konceptu Global Britain, konkrétne prejavy vybraných členov Konzervatívnej strany z obdobia od referenda o brexite v roku 2016 po koniec prechodného obdobia v 2020.

Global Britain is the key concept in the debate on the future orientation of Great Britain and her place in the post-Brexit world. It represents the vision of the United Kingdom opened to the whole world – the image of a country connecting with old friends and new allies alike. This paper assumes that the idea of a global Britain is – to some extent – built on the (imperial) nostalgia and idealization of the past. It explores the presence and forms of that nostalgia within the post-Brexit discourse on the British place in the world and new foreign policy orientation. The goal of this paper is to analyse the Conservative political debate on the concept of Global Britain, specifically the public speeches of the selected Conservative Party representatives from the EU referendum of 2016 to the end of the transition period in 2020.
