The goal of this thesis is to carefully formulate difference equations of two-point boundary value problems with moving boundaries, non-uniform meshes, and arbitrary boundary conditions within the context of spherically-symmetric hydrodynamics coupled with the transport of radiation or neutrinos. These equations will then be applied to selected problems of contemporary astrophysical interest such as super-Eddington winds or stability of shock-bounded accretion, depending on the interest of the student. |

Two-point boundary value problem of a system of ordinary differential equations has a wide range of applications in theoretical astrophysics ranging from structure and evolution of stars and planets to accretion and outflow of gas. Although often solved by the shooting method, relaxation methods can provide superior performance for problems rich in physical detail. |
