Staphylococcus aureus is an important bacterial agent of human and animal infections. Upon contact of the bacterium with the host cell, a number of molecular interactions occur. These lead to the colonization or local and/or systemic infections, which may have a serious course. The aim of the work is to summarize these mechanisms, their progress and effect for the development of staphylococcal infection, focusing on the mechanisms of innate immunity.
