Studentka vyhledá statisticky významnou skupinu dvojčat a pomocí dotazníku, tzv „Morningness-eveningness questionnaire“, vytipuje děti s náznakem rozdílů v diurnální preferenci a vývojem odlišného chronotypu. U těchto dětí bude sledován rytmus v syntéze melatoninu jako markeru fáze cirkadiánního pacemakeru, a rozdíl v denních preferencích bude korelován s fází cirkadiánního pacemakeru.

Circadian biological clock controls the temporal organization of most of physiological processes in all organisms, and human as well. The melatonin or cortisol synthesis, body temperature, sleep, mental and physical activity and many other human performances are temporarily regulated by biological clock and entrained to 24 hour day. The studies of human circadian physiology suggest that there are inter-individual differences in the length of endogenous period, in the process of its entrainment by external conditions and in the amplitude of output circadian rhythms. The causation of these individual differences is unknown. One of the possible way how to study the ratio between the heredity and the influence of external factors having impact along the way of life on the forming of circadian phenotype, it is the study of monozygotic tweens. Melatonin is the most frequently used marker of phase and amplitude of circadian pacemaker. The student will seek for statistically significant group of tweens and using "Morningness-eveningness questionnaire", she will unveil the children expressing difference in diurnal preference and the development of distinct chronotype. In these children, the rhythm in melatonin synthesis as a marker of circadian phase will be followed and the difference in diurnal preference will be correlated with the phase of circadian pacemaker.
