Ve všech oblastech budou videonahrávky pořizovány pomocí shodné metodiky – 24 hodinové nahrávky inkubovaných hnízd, video kamera s IR přísvitem, mini rekordér s paměťovou kartou o velikosti 32 GB (typ SDHC), napájení 12V baterií, vše umístěno do voděodolného krytu a zamaskováno okolním přírodním materiálem.

The thesis is focused on the study of the breeding biology of the Arctic tern Sterna paradisaea nesting in extreme climates northern tundra. The aim of this work is to use continuous video monitoring of the nests of the Arctic tern to describe the incubation behavior of the species, including causes loss of nests (predation, weather…). The video record of nests will occur (in some areas was already partially) on two types of sites on Svalbard and it will be made during fieldwork in 2014 or 2015. Localities are divided into two groups: with more and less interference by people with more and less predation pressure . Disturbance areas - near Longyearbyen , the undisturbed - Petunia Bukta , Oblík. In all areas will be video recorded using the same methodology - 24 hours of recordings incubated nests video camera with IR illumination, mini recorder with a memory card of 32 GB ( SDHC type ) , 12V battery , all housed in a weatherproof enclosure camouflaged surrounding natural material . The result of the work will evaluate the impact of predation and human disturbance on the incubation behavior of terns . The same methodology as for the Arctic tern was also used in the conduct of shame Antarctic tern Sterna vittata in Antarctica. It offers the opportunity to compare closely related species nesting on opposite poles of the earth and the evaluation of the presence of mammalian predators in the north.
