Předběžná náplň práce

Projekt se zaměřuje na téma vztahu mezi kulturní pamětí a dějepisnými učebnicemi používanými během komunistického a postkomunistického období v českých a československých školách. Učebnice dějepisu představují významný sociologický výzkumný materiál, který se společně s oficiálními paměťovými institucemi, jakými jsou muzea či památníky, podílí na utváření kolektivní paměti společnosti. Cílém práce je prezentovat v současnosti stále ještě spíše opomíjenou část výzkumu učebnic - chce odhalit ideologický narativ skrytý za obrazy, jenž je sdílený učebnicemi pocházejícími z komunistického i postkomunistického období, a stejně tak poukázat na specifické způsoby, jimiž dochází k reprodukci národní identity prostřednictvím média obrazu. V českém akademickém prostředí projekt využívá velice často přehlíženou metodu vizuální analýzy. Na mezinárodní úrovni pak výzkum nabízí lokální případovou studii reflexe ideologického narativu české národní identity, jež může být shledána nápomocnou zejména v případě srovnání s dalšími postkomunistickými zeměmi.

První část projektu bude směřována k vybudování teoretického rámce, který bude především reflektovat sociologické a mediální teorie kolektivní a kulturní paměti. Ve druhé části bude na obrazové reprezentace v dějepisných učebnicích aplikována vizuální analýza a budou diskutovány komplexní sociální praktiky, které ovlivňují jejich užívání. Metody vizuální sémiotické a obsahové analýzy by měly odhalit vzorce reprodukce specifických vizuálních schémat, prostřednictvím nichž je reprezentována česká národní identita.

Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

The project focuses on the topic of a relationship between the cultural memory and history textbooks used during the communist and post-communist period in the Czech(oslovak) education system. History textbooks represent an important sociological research material, which co-constitute the collective memory in the society along with other official memory institutions like museums or monuments. The aim of the thesis is to present up today merely an unreflected part of a textbook research; it wants to reveal a hidden ideological narrative shared by the communist and post-communist period textbooks that resides behind the pictures as well as to show the specific ways in which the Czech national identity has been reproduced by the medium of the image. At the field of the Czech academia the project employs the very often neglected method of visual analysis. On the international level the research project offers a local case study of the reflection of the ideological narratives of the Czech national identity that can be found helpful namely in comparison with other post-communist countries.

The first part of the project will be oriented on building a theoretical framework while reflecting on the sociological and the media theories of collective and cultural memory namely. The second part will apply visual analysis on pictures published in history textbooks and will discuss the complex social practices which influence their use. The methods of visual semiotic and content analysis should reveal the patterns of reproduction of specific visual schemes through which the Czech national identity has been represented.
