Zásady pro vypracování

Záměrem práce je popsat komplexně a detailně pražskou hebrejskou knižní produkci v daném období a na základě tohoto popisu a obrazové dokumentace vytvořit (a) chronologii pražského knihtisku, (b) podrobné typografické profily jednotlivých tiskařů či rodinných tiskáren a (c) podrobnou bibliografii. Vedle tiskařů budou podchyceny a identifikovány i další osoby podílející se na jednotlivých edicích od autorů, editorů a korektorů po sazeče, další tiskárenské profese a finančníky a sponzory tisku.
Tato popisná fáze projektu umožní několik obecnějších výstupů. Prvním bude zevrubná charakteristika knižní produkce a vydavatelské politiky pražských tiskařů z hlediska obsahu, žánru, jazyka, autorů a cílových čtenářských skupin. Pozornost chci věnovat také mimoliterárním aspektům: jednak rabínským aprobacím (jejichž zavedení souvisí i s „vnitřní“ židovskou cenzurou), jednak církevní cenzuře a jejím případným zásahům ve zkoumaném období.
Podrobný průzkum a popis pražské hebrejské produkce dále umožní zařadit pražský knihtisk do širšího kontextu hebrejské typografie. Porovnáním typografických rysů starších pražských tisků s produkcí soudobých italských hebrejských tiskáren mohou být zjištěny vzory i přímé zdroje, z nichž pražští tiskaři čerpali. Naopak porovnáním s tisky vzešlými z mladších polských a německých tiskáren bude možné stanovit, zda estetika raných pražských hebrejských tisků ovlivnila produkci tamějších tiskařů. Dokumentovány budou také zjištěné „výpůjčky“ křesťanského grafického materiálu a využití křesťanských řemeslníků, zde ovšem na základě publikované literatury a osobních konzultací s odborníky na latinský knihtisk v Praze, nikoli na základě vlastního základního výzkumu.
V bibliografickém a typologicko-typografickém popisu se hodlám řídit zásadami a standardy používanými pro popis cizojazyčných bohemik v knihovědném oddělení KNAV upravenými pro potřeby hebrejské bibliografie a s přihlédnutím ke standardům používaným Národní knihovnou v Jeruzalémě (zejména v oblasti zápisu jmen a klasifikace věcných témat). Popisy budou částečně dvojjazyčné, tak aby titul a jméno autora, případně významné nakladatelské údaje byly zachyceny jak v hebrejském (jidiš) originálu, tak ve standardizované podobě v latince. Nezbytným doplňkem typografických profilů jednotlivých tiskařů a tiskáren i bibliografického soupisu bude obrazová příloha, kde budou názorně dokumentovány v profilech klasifikované typografické a grafické prvky (písmo, signety, bordury, rámy, ozdůbky ad.).
Hebrejským knihtiskem rozumím produkci židovských knihtiskáren tištěnou hebrejskými typy v hebrejštině či jidiš a určenou primárně židovským čtenářům. Ze své práce vědomě vylučuji systematický popis jednotlivých (většinou okrajových) užití hebrejské sazby křesťanskými tiskaři až na případy, které se zároveň dotýkají činnosti jejich židovských kolegů.
