Předběžná náplň práce

Rigorózní práce „ Kulturní politika USA a SSSR po druhé světové válce mapuje poválečný vývoj politiky daných států v oblasti kultury. Práce nejprve nastiňuje historický přístup obou států ke kultuře a vysvětluje jejich odlišné modely kulturní politiky. Následuje analýza poválečné politiky vůči kulturní sféře a definuje její hlavní tendence. Z jejich komparace pak vyplývá, do jaké míry jsou tyto trendy v obou zemích analogické. Důraz je ale kladen nejen na identifikaci hlavních shod, ale i nejdůležitějších rozdílů. Cílem práce je pak nabídnout teoretický a metodologický základ, na němž je možné odlišné modely kulturní politiky srovnat. Práce představuje koncept demonstrativní kulturní politiky Raymonda Williamse, jehož aplikace na situaci v obou supervelmocích na prahu studené války umožňuje takové srovnání kulturní politiky, které může vysvětlit míru podobnosti v událostech v kulturní politice v prvním poválečném desetiletí.

The thesis „Cultural Policy of the USA and the USSR after WWII” deals with the developments of post-war approach of the two states towards culture. The historical understanding of cultural policy in both countries is outlined, which explains the different models of cultural policy, followed by a detailed analysis of post-war development of policy towards culture in the United States of America and the Soviet Union, which reveals the main trends. Comparison of the two makes clear to what extent are the post-war phenomena in cultural policy analogous. The aim of this thesis is to offer a conceptual and methodological foundation for the comparison of cultural policy after the Second World War. The concept of cultural policy “as display” by Raymond Williams is offered to explain the extent of similarities between the events taking place in cultural policy of the two superpowers in the first post-war decade.
