Pathogenic microorganisms pose a significant threat to human health, often due to their virulence factors, which enable them to evade immune responses and establish infections. This project aims to develop a gene therapy strategy targeting these virulence mechanisms. Specifically, the work involves:
1. Construct Design: Engineering genetic constructs to neutralize or disrupt virulence-associated genes in pathogenic microorganisms. 2. Delivery System Development: Establishing a robust and efficient delivery platform, such as viral vectors, nanoparticles, or bacterial conjugation systems, to transport the therapeutic constructs to the target cells. 3. In Vivo Testing: Evaluating the efficacy and safety of the gene therapy approach in animal models to determine its potential for translational applications. During the study, the Ph.D. candidate will perform following experiments and analysis: • to conduct molecular biology experiments to design and optimize genetic constructs; • to develop and test delivery systems for gene therapy in vitro; • to perform animal studies to assess the effectiveness of the therapy in reducing virulence and pathogenicity; • to analyze data and present findings at scientific meetings and in peer-reviewed publications. |
