This bachelor thesis investigates feelings of guilt and other psychological changes among young women from Ukraine who had to flee to the Czech Republic and became refugees in the course of the war in Ukraine. Through in-depth interviews with some of these women, I examine the effects of the war as well as possible connections between where they came from and what they did before the war with what they are doing now in the Czech Republic. What support and new socialites emerge that can lessen feelings of guilt often experienced by refugees?

Předběžná náplň práce
The war in the Ukrainiane has caused major social and psychological impacts, also for women who have fled to Europe. Focusing on the Czech Republic, this thesis examines the effects of the war on Ukrainian women refugees, exploring the circumstances of emigration, family networks, psychological impacts, and social changes. Drawing on the study of existing literature about social and psychological impact of war and six semi-structured interviews, the study investigates the experiences and challenges that these women face in another country.
Key themes include survivor guilt, which is the emotional burden of surviving when others did not, and the mental stress of their experiences. The research delves into the difficulties these women encounter in integrating into a new society, such as language barriers and instances of discrimination. It also examines how being displaced affects community ties, highlighting the strength and contributions that Ukrainian women make in the Czech Republic and in Ukraine.
