| Study proper edge colourings of complete graphs. Conlon and Tyomkyn proved that when n is odd, there exists a colouring with n colours avoiding a repeat of the same colour pattern on two disjoint triangles. On the other hand, the case when n is even is open, and the minimum number f(n) of colours avoiding such a repeat is between n-1 and n+1. Investigating small values of n, Botler et al. determined f(n) for n=6,8,10 and 12. Surprisingly for n=6 and 8 we have f(n)=n+1, on the other hand, f(10)=9 and f(12)=12. The same authors showed that f(n)=n-1 when n=3^k+1. We wish to investigate further these phenomena. |
