| This master’s thesis is about principles and techniques of orchestrating Korean traditional music using Western instruments as a pedagogical tool in Korean high schools. After a review of the literature, a selection of Korean folk songs will be presented, and then appropriate techniques of orchestration will be discussed. The next chapter will present actual orchestrations of the Korean folk songs, which will lead to a discussion of how orchestration of folk songs and its elements can be used as pedagogical tools in music education in Korea.
