Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce
My bachelor thesis will investigate the experience of migration of Georgians in the Czech Republic. Specifically, what challenges do Georgian females experience due to their gender identity in the process of emigration? Moreover, what are the characteristics of the social relationship established in Czech Republic among Georgian emigrants, and how do online communities contribute to the process of migration? The research is based on a particular Georgian emigrants’ group that opened a Georgian kitchen in a restaurant in Prague. Participants are people who work in this restaurant, while part of the research also comes from online observations. As part of the research, I will study challenges and experiences of migration, the relationship of Georgian migrants in Czech Republic, their social networks, online communities, and traditional kitchens as a strategy to handle the migration challenges as well as the relationship between the Czech society and migrants. Moreover, I will also explore how a traditional Georgian kitchen is connected to the idea of establishing a “second home” in Prague. My research question investigates what are the migration experiences of Georgian immigrants in Prague regarding the ethnicity and gender aspects. Specifically, what strategies do Georgian females use to establish a sense of a “second home” and familiarity in the foreign environment? in addition, how do ethnicity and material culture play a major role in constructing the so-called “second home” in Prague? And how Georgian immigrants interact with each other in public and private spaces based on gender issues.
