Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce |
The aim of this thesis is to discuss and analyse the position of women in Nigerian culture and its patriarchal society. The practical part focuses on the interpretation of the work My Sister, the Serial Killer written by Oyinkan Braithwaite, a Nigerian-British novelist and writer born in Lagos. The predominant focus is mainly on the examination of the patriarchal background the protagonists live in and the means of how they try to revolt against it. The theoretical part provides a context for this analysis drawing on contemporary studies of position of women in contemporary Nigerian society, whilst pointing out the feminist tendencies and highlighting the role of emerging Nigerian feminist writers. |
