Spinální svalová atrofie je heterogenní degenerativní onemocnění postihující alfa motoneurony předních rohů míšních a také motorická jádra hlavových nervů. Po Duchenově svalové dystrofii jde o druhé nejčastější vrozené neuromuskulární onemocnění. Do roku 2016 byla fyzioterapie u těchto pacientů pouze paliativní formou péče. Nyní s rozvojem farmakoterapie roste i význam a důležitost fyzioterapie a rehabilitační péče o tyto pacienty. Dosud v ČR ani zahraničí neexistuje studie, která by vymezovala druh, intenzitu, frekvenci a dobu trvání ideální fyzické zátěže. Rehabilitační péče je tedy symptomatická a zaměřená na individuální potřeby konkrétního pacienta.

Spinal muscular atrophy is a heterogeneous degenerative disease affecting the alpha motoneurons of the anterior corners of the spinal cord, as well as the motor nuclei of the cranial nerves. After Duchen muscular dystrophy, it is the second most common congenital neuromuscular disease. By 2016, physiotherapy in these patients was only a palliative form of care. Now, as pharmacotherapy develops, so does the importance and importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation care for these patients. Until now, there is no study in the Czech Republic or abroad that defines the type, intensity, frequency and duration of the ideal physical load. Rehabilitation care is therefore symptomatic and focused on the individual needs of a particular patient.
