While syntactic parsing is a long researched area with a lot of resources in many languages (notably Universal Dependencies treebanks in 92 languages) and a variety of successful models applicable on many languages, semantic parsing has not yet been so developed. One of the main challenges of semantic parsing is a variety of meaning representation frameworks, each of them more advanced than for syntax. Therefore, model design and even evaluation are often framework-specific, and multilingual data for a single framework is not very common.
The goal of this thesis is therefore to design a general model applicable to semantic parsing for a wide range of frameworks and languages, and capable of harnessing the latest advancements of deep learning in natural language processing. The devised model should be evaluated by participating in MRP 2020, a CoNLL 2020 meaning representation parsing shared task, which evaluates semantic parsing on data in five different frameworks and four languages. |
