The emphasis on high resolution in regional climate modelling leads to convection permitting RCMs. In such a resolutions, however, specific land surface interactions have to be resolved or parameterized properly. The interactions within the urban environment become important as they can significantly improve climate characteristics, which is essential as increasing majority of population is living there. This can be involved using proper parameterization of the processes in urban canopy models included in high resolution RCMs, thus, the development of urban climate patterns under climate change and growing urbanization can be simulated using these tools. The aim of the project is to study this development in historical context with comparison of such simulations to the observed data, as well as to prepare urbanized scenarios of climate change for future development of urban environment under selected scenarios, with the assessment of potential mitigation options effects. |
