The thesis continues in characterizing the function of selected transporters of the KT/HAK/KUP family in plants. It is mainly focused on the KUP5 transporter, but it also deals with the KUP9 transporter. It maps expression within the plant and continues to characterize Arabidopsis mutants with modulated gene expression for these transporters. It investigates the importance of transporters in potassium nutrition, plant growth and development and the plant's response to various abiotic stress factors.
