Některé patogenní bakterie využívají manipulaci s vnitrobuněčným cAMP v hostitelských buňkách jako strategii pro vyhnutí se obranným mechanismům hostitele. Například, ExoY bakterie Pseudomonas aeruginosa, edema faktor bakterie Bacillus anthracis, cholerový toxin z Vibrio cholerae, YopE z Yersinií, tepelně-labilní enterotoxin z bakterie Escherichia coli nebo adenylát cyklázový (CyaA) a pertusový toxin (PT) z bakterie Bordetella pertussis. Cílem práce je shrnutí nejnovějších poznatků o těchto faktorech virulence.

Several bacterial pathogens employ elevation of cAMP levels in host cells as a strategy for evasion of host immune defenses. For example ExoY of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the edema factor of Bacillus anthracis, the cholera toxin of Vibrio cholerae, the YopE of Yersinia, the heat-labile enterotoxin from Escherichia coli or Bordetella pertussis adenylate cyclase toxin (CyaA) and pertussis toxin (PT) all represent toxins that elevate cytosolic cAMP levels in various host cell types. The aim of this work is to summarize the latest findings about these virulence factors.
