The dissertation thesis investigate residential preferences and migration trajectories of generation of young adult inhabitants of Prague’s hinterland. This generation, due to their life-cycle position at the beginning of the productive age, usually one-generational character of suburban housing and other factors, faces the question of their future place of residence. The main objective is to clarify destinations and volume of these planned or realised migration movements and to evaluate the significance of factors that influence the migration purposes. Another important issue are the consequences of outmigration for its source and target localities and for potential geographical reorganisation of urban region with the focus on (1) re-urbanisation of the urban core and inner-city districts, (2) more affordable housing estates in the outer zone, (3) further suburban development, or (4) deurbanization through migration flows out of the city region.
