| Today's data ecosystem is based on data catalogs, as there are no adequate search engines for data as there are search engines for Web pages such as Google.
Current data catalog implementations typically rely on the traditional client-server architecture, storing the dataset records in a centralized server-side database. The goal of this thesis is to implement a simple but standards-compliant data catalog based on de-centralized Solid web storage and Linked Data. The student will get to know the Linked Data principles [1], the RDF data model [2], the recent W3C Social Web recommendations and the Solid framework [4]. The student will study the DCAT-AP v1.1 [5] recommendation for representation of metadata in data catalogs in Europe. The student will design, implement, test and evaluate a Solid and DCAT-AP based data catalog, which will include user authentication using Solid. The project will be open-source and hosted on a public repository. |
