Aby si udržala genómovú integritu a schopnosť dlhodobého prežitia, kvasinka, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, striktne reguluje koordináciu delenia jadra a cytokinézy.

To sustain genome integrity and long term viability, fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, stringently coordinates processes of nuclear division and cytokinesis. The impairment of such coordination results in mitotic catastrophe, during which developing septum cuts through the still undivided nucleus, resulting in terminal phenotype also known as cut (cell untimely torn). Even though the cell cycle regulatory circuits are described to a great detail in S. pombe, the exact mitotic role of certain factors is unclear. In this study, we focus on molecular characterization of CSL homologous transcription factor, Cbf11, the function of which is important for successful mitotic progression. As an output of the project, we aspire to determine the mitosis-related Cbf11 function.
