Cílem práce je studovat fylogeografii a krajinnou genetiku krtka evropského (Talpa europaea) a charakterizovat vliv pleistocenních oscilací klimatu na genetickou architekturu tohoto druhu. Pomocí analýzy vhodných mitochondriálních a jaderných markerů bude rekonstruována areálová historie a refugiální struktura včetně pozice případných mikrorefugií. Na úrovni krajinné genetiky bude zhodnocena míra genového toku a charakter isolation by distance u této skupiny především v oblasti střední Evropy. Práce tak přispěje k pochopení mechanismů speciace u fosoriálních savců.

The aim ot the thesis is to study phylogeography and landscape genetics of the European mole (Talpa europaea) and assess the impact of pleistocene climate oscillations to genetic architecture of this species. Using analysis of suitable mitochondrial and nucler markers, the range history and refugial structure including the position of respective microrefugia will be reconstructed. Within landscape genetics framework, the level of gene flow and character of isolation by distance will be assessed especially in central Europe. The study will contribute to revealing speciation mechanisms in fossorial mammals.
