The goal of the thesis is to design and implement a framework for geolocation based mobile applications using Linked Data [1][3].
It will be able to obtain information about nearby objects based on the current location and GPS coordinates of the nearby objects stored in a SPARQL [2][4] endpoint. It will allow users to view relevant data about the nearby objects on a map, updating the displayed data as the position of the device changes. Furthermore it will demonstrate the benefits of this model on a simple application which will display data contained in the RUIAN basic registry. The application will comply with the iOS Human Interface Guidelines [5]. The first step of the thesis is analysis of existing solutions for working with linked geodata on mobile devices. Next, the student will design an architecture of the proposed framework and consider multiple options, including the usage of an intermediate server for communication with SPARQL endpoints. The student will implement the framework and a proof-of-concept application showing data about nearby buildings, streets, lots and address points stored in the RUIAN basic registry. Finally, the student will evaluate the usability of the application and the extensibility of the framework. |
