Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

Nowadays, the decision about financing of a new medication by health-care insurance companies in the Czech Republic is made only on the basis of impact on the health-care budget. The task of this thesis is to analyse how the decision would be changed if we also took impact on the social-welfare budget into consideration. A cost-minimization analysis and budget impact analysis will be employed. Having described the theory, I will analyse a specific diagnosis - Dupuytren's desease (DD) - for individuals of different characteristics (e.g. occupation, type of work, earnings,). Provided the sample of individuals is large enough, I will make inference about distributional properties of the sample.
At the beginning of the thesis, I will describe methods used in health technology assessment (HTA) and discuss present situation in HTA both in the world and in the Czech Republic. Then I will elaborate on DD and its treatment. In the main part of the thesis, I will analyse all the costs (i.e. direct medical costs, social direct costs and social opportunity costs) and benefits of DD from the perspective of the state budget. I will also assess the impact of DD on the public budget of the Czech Republic with respect to different treatment methods. At the end, I will discuss my results.
