XML technologies can be treated as a standard for data interchange on the contemporary Web. However, the Web is composed primarily from documents that are intended for human users and their content is difficult to automatically process by programs. Thus, an idea of the Web of Data based on RDF triples appeared to enrich the existing Web of Documents. As a consequence, we may be wondering how to transform data stored in existing XML documents into RDF triples. For this purpose we can even harness specific knowledge defined in attached XML schemata.
The goal of this work is a research on possibilities and limitations of automatic or manual techniques for generating RDF data from existing XML documents. The core of the work should be a proposal of own approach dealing with advantages and disadvantages identified in an analysis of existing theoretical and commercial solutions. The approach implementation will also be appended by experimental results.
