The contemporary Web contains primarily documents that are difficult to be automatically processed by programs. Therefore, an idea of the Web of Data based especially on RDF triples appeared to enrich the existing Web of Documents. Although we would appreciate to use native approaches for graph data processing, existing solutions often benefit from decades of research in the area of relational databases. Thus, we may focus on the problem of transforming relational data stored in existing tables into RDF triples, considering specific knowledge defined in database schemata, including, for example, integrity constraints or other constructs.
The purpose of this work is a research on possibilities and limitations of automatic or manual techniques for generating RDF data from relational data stored in standard relational databases. The core of the work should be a proposal of own approach dealing with advantages and disadvantages identified in an analysis of existing theoretical and commercial approaches. The proposal implementation will also be supported by experimental results.
