Zásady pro vypracování

Základním tématem diplomové práce bude vývoj fungování specifického druhu politicko-ekonomického systému v Saúdské Arábii. Model rentiérského státu bude posuzován v jeho jednotlivých vývojových fázích až do posledních let. Hlavním cílem celé studie bude definovat klíčové problémy společensko-politického zřízení v Saúdské Arábii a jejich možná východiska. Zaměřím se hlavně na vytváření institucí, vztahy mezi soukromým a státním sektorem, klientelismus a politiku zaměstnanosti. Zkoumání politické oblasti zahrne široké spektrum vztahů, fungování vládnoucí dynastie, vztahy vlády a společenských elit a vztahy vlády a většinové společnosti. Z hlediska ověření platnosti teorie rentiérského státu je relevantní se zaměřit na faktory ovlivňující distribuční schopnosti státu. Ty závisí na fluktuujících cenách ropy a zejména jsou oslabovány skokovým nárůstem populace. Dá se předpokládat, že nalezneme jisté odlišností mezi teoretickým rámcem rentiérského státu a samotnou politicko-ekonomickou realitou v zemi. Snižující se distribuční síla státu vyžaduje do budoucna změnu společensko-ekonomické struktury. Teorie dále předpokládá, že existuje pojítko mezi ekonomickou autonomií rentiérského státu a tendencí k vytváření autoritářského systému, který si může dovolit ignorovat politickou vůli občanů.
Hlavním cílem diplomové práce bude popsat způsob, jakým rentiérská ekonomika ovlivňuje či podmiňuje vznik a fungování státních struktur, a na základě závěrů z tohoto výzkumu provést srovnání mezi základními hypotézami teorie rentiérského státu na jedné straně a individuálním případem Saúdské Arábie na druhé. Na základě analýzy politicko-ekonomických problémů země se pak pokusím vymezit rysy socioekonomického vývoje, jež charakterizují Saúdskou Arábii nad rámec explikativního dosahu teorie rentiérského státu.
