Doktorský (Ph.D.) program Dějiny lékařství představuje interdisciplinární obor popisující dějiny lékařské vědy, dějiny jednotlivých medicínských oborů a jejich představitelů, vývoj lékařského myšlení, dějiny výuky zdravotnických pracovníků, dějiny veřejného zdravotnictví a zdravotnických zařízení, historii proměn a výskytu chorob a jejich léčby.
Obor je koncipován tak, aby jej mohli studovat zájemci se vzděláním biomedicínským či přírodovědným i humanitním. V obou případech je vyžadována znalost metody a metodologie historické vědy a schopnost pracovat s původními prameny (archivními, literárními, ikonografickými aj.). To vše s ohledem na studentovu původní specializaci.

Learning outcomes
The doctoral (Ph.D. degree) programme in History of Medicine represents interdisciplinary studies dealing with the history of medical science; history of particular fields of medicine and their prominent representatives; development of medical thought; history of health care professional training; history of public health service and health care facilities; history of transformations and incidence of diseases as well as of their treatment.
Zhe programme is conceived in such a way that it can be studied by graduates with a background of biomedical or natural sciences or even humanities. In either case, the knowledge of methodology of historical science and ability to work with primary sources (archives, literature, iconography etc.) is required, considering the student’s original background at a time.
