The aim of the course is systematically to make students acquainted with the positions of the topic "Chemistry of the natural products" among the related branches chemistry and biology and with the essential concepts in the topic. The students should further learn basic principles of biosynthesis, properties, incidence, functions and applications of particular groups of secondary metabolites. The course deals with lipophilic products such as carbohydrates, fatty acids, fatty acid esters, and amides, eicosanoids, isoprenoids.Rather hydrophilic fenylpropanoids and polyketides are also involved.

Poslední úprava: SMRCEK (16.01.2003)
Charakterizace předmětu chemie přírodních látek a jeho vztah k organické chemii, biochemii i moderním hraničním oborům chemie a biologie.
Základy biosyntézy, výskyt, vlastnosti, funkce a použití jednotlivých skupin sekundárních metabolitů:
1. Lipidy: uhlovodíky, vyšší alkoholy, mastné kyseliny a jejich deriváty s isoprenoidními alkoholy a glycerolem [neutrální glyceridy, glycosylglyceridy (glykolipidy), estery kyseliny L-glycerolfosforečné (fosfatidy: fosfatidylcholiny, fosfatidylethanolaminy, fosfatidylseriny, fosfatidylinosity, fosfatidylglyceroly, kyseliny lipoteichoové, plasmalogeny)], makromolekulární estery substituovaných mastných kyselin, amidy mastných kyselin (lipopeptidy, lipopolysacharidy, sfingolipidy, sfinganiny, sfingomyeliny, cerebrosidy, sulfatidy, gangliosidy).
3. Terpenoidy: jednotlivé skupiny od (hemi) mono- po polyprenoidy
4. Steroidy: cholesterol, kalciferoly, žlučové kyseliny, kortikoidy, pohlavní hormony, neurosteroidy, steroly, kardenolidy, bufadienolidy, spirostany, steroidní alkaloidy, ekdysteroidy a brassinosteroidy. Steroidy z moře.
5. Fenylpropanoidy: lignany, flavonoidy, stilbeny
6. Polyketidy
Poslední úprava: SMRCEK (16.01.2003)
Characterization of the topic "chemistry of the natural compounds" and its relation to organic chemistry, biochemistry and modern boarder line branches between chemistry and biology.
Identification of particular groups of secondary metabolites; essentials of their biosynthesis, incidence, properties, functions and application
1. Lipids: carbohydrates, alcohols, fatty acids, and their derivatives with isoprenoid alcohols and glycerol, esters of L-glycerophosohatidic acid (phosphatides, phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylethanolamines, phosphatidylserines, phosphatidylinosites, phosphatidylglycerols, lipotechoic acids, plasmalogenes)], macromolecular esters of substituted fatty acids, fatty acid amides (lipopeptides, lipopolysaccharides, sfingolipids, sfinganines, sfingomyelins, cerebrosides, sulfatides, gangliosides).
