zemské atmosféry, pozice kontinentů v geologické minulosti Země, paleoklima a další).

Please note, the lectures are given in Czech language. English version of the course can be requested in advance if there
are at least 3 students.
Major periods in evolution of life are explained in context of environmental changes concerning composition of atmosphere,
position of continents, climate, and others. Principal events in the history of animals (e.g., Ediacaran fauna, Cambrian
explosion, Permian crisis, Cretaceous-Tertiary extinctions, Pleistocene glaciation) are discussed in context of plant evolution,
and in relation with origin or extinction of higher animal taxa. Extinction events may provide information on possible
consequences of similar changes in contemporary ecosystems.
