This course is aimed at the participants with prior teaching practice. It was to be practically oriented and interactive. Since this is not possible in the near future, I suggest the following changes of program. Original plan 1. (5.10.2020) a) Demo: Ice-breakers, warmers, fillers and coolers. Rapport b) Course content and requirements 2. (12.10.) a) Class management and interaction b) Stages and steps in running an activity 3. (19.10.) Individual visits to schools 4. (26.10.) a) Teaching experience – discussion b) Teaching strategies: Vocabulary New plan Each week you will get an e-mail with several attachments (handouts for self-study) and a task (homework) to carry out and submit. 1. (5.10.2020) Getting acquainted with course organization, content, requirements and handouts: a) Warmers, fillers, coolers, b) Rapport, c) Realia, d) Flashcards. E) Needs analysis Homework: Please write the extent of your teaching experience (TEFL / other) - bullet points, max. ½ p. A4 + send to MH and all the course participants 2. (12.10.) Self-study of handouts: a) Class management, b) Classroom interaction, c) Lesson stages and steps in running an activity Homework: Please describe your best teaching / learning-related memory (similar extent). Share with MH and the others. 3. (19.10.) Submit this homework to MH only. You will get a written feedback. Options to choose from: a) Observe an English lesson and fill in the observation form. b) Reflect on your own English teaching, and describe the main problem you face. c) Write a profile of one of your students of English stating his/her main problem. 4. (26.10.) Getting acquainted with a) Peer teaching rules and b) Teaching material template c) Self-study of handout: c) Vocabulary teaching strategies. |
