The course concerns those fields of mathematics which are pertinent to the education of mathematics teachers of lower and upper secondary school. The fields are chosen according to the preferences of the instructor and the course applicants. The emphasis is placed on problem solving (and possibly problem posing), using different solving strategies and means, including technological. If applicable, relevant knowledge of the history of mathematics is studied alongside solving problems.

The course is focussed on preparation of students to their teaching practise in the domain of teaching mathematics. Students get various non-traditional mathematical environments in which they develop not only mathematical abilities but also didactical abilities formulating new problems, presuming difficultness of problems for pupils, creating cascades of problems and new mathematical environments.
