Comparative study of education systems and teaching practice
Presentation of the basic characteristics, principles and organization of the Czech education system. On the basis
of reflection, analysis and practical knowledge, foreign students will develop their comparative skills, aiming on
the French education system.
Attention will be drawn to the problems of transformation of Czech primary school, teaching at primary and
secondary level including the problems of integration of handicapped children and children with learning
disabilities. The course will also introduce the types of undergraduate study for future teachers realized at the
Faculty of Education of Charles University and the problems of teaching practice (basic forms of practice,
associated school, mentor teacher, reflection and self-reflection, supervision etc.).
As a part of the course, the students will participate on an observation practice in selected Czech schools and
reflect on it. The seminar is adaptable to particular interests of the students.
