Learning Methods:
The course includes lectures and seminars, with seeing movies about Baltic region. Every student has to apply an essay, which is required. Seminars and discussions are based on overworked required materials and composed reports.

Participation of the seminars is obligatory.

Methods of Assessment:
The course conclude with an examination a  report based to the theme of written essay. T

he examination grade is based on participation and activity of the lectures and seminars (50%) and essay (50%).

Themes of lectures and seminars:

The lectures consist 3 parts:

1. The first one is dealing with the regionalism and "Baltic Triangle". Clarify
emerging trends in the political, institutional and economical cooperation between Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Introduction: Regionalism. Trilateral Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian co-operation. Geopolitical considerations. The Baltic Institutions. Towards a Baltic free trade area.

2. The second part is dedicated to the developments in the cooperation of the Baltic states with their Scandinavian neighbours. The process of integration of the Baltic Sea states.

The Baltic Sea regional co-operation. Formula 5 + 3 Baltic-Nordic co-operation.  Economic co-operation between the Baltic Tree and Scandinavian countries. The Baltic Sea co-operation.

3. Third part examines the process of integration of the Baltic states into the EU and Baltic/EU relations.
The Baltic States and the European Union. Back to Europe. Legal Framework for the Baltic- EU relationship: from Trade and Co-operation Agreement to Europe Agreement. 

4. The fourth part is delaing with the Russia and Balic States reletions 


I Seminar: Regionalism. Baltic States cooperation. Geopolitical consideration. Factors in favour and factors which hinder the Baltic states co-operation. Institutions of Baltic States.

II Seminar: Political, economical and other areas framework between the Nordic and Baltic states.

III Seminar: Factors in favour a with the Nordic and  the Baltic Sea co-operation.

IV Seminar: EU and Baltic states relations. Russia and Baltic States relations.
