Introductory course of probability theory and descriptive statistics which covers the basic notions needed for the course of statistics.

Známkování 2020/21 pro distanční zkoušení:
Dva domácí úkoly: každý za 10% celkové známky (HW1 bude zadán 2.3.; HW2 bude zadán 20.4.)
Online zkoušková písemka:50-minutový test za 50% celkové známky.
Online ústní zkouška:30% celkové známky.
Známkování je založeno na procentech známky:
0-50 procent ... F 51-60 procent ... E 61-70 procent ... D 71-80 procent ... C 81-90 procent ... B 91-100 procent ... A
Nadto, pro úspěšně zakončenou zkoušku je třeba získat nadpoloviční skore ze zkouškového testu, tj. získat 25 a více procent známky z písemného testu.
Zkouškové termíny:
13.5., 20.5. 27.5., 3.6., 10.6. 24.6. a 8.7.

Organizational details of the written part of the exam:
Written part of the exam will be supervised via online application Zoom (students registered for the exam will receive email with technical information and invitation links). Student must use full first and family name upon entry to the online application, no nicknames are allowed.
Student must connect via the selected application at least 5 minutes ahead of the start of the exam.
During the work on the written part of the exam, students can use writing tools, blank papers to write on and offline calculator. From electronic applications it is allowed to use mail client to access the assignment, pdf reader to view the assignment, internet browser to access SIS, tools for creating a pdf file with working sheets containing their exam solution and online application Zoom. It is recommended to close all nonessential applications running on the background the computer. It is forbidden to use lecture notes, book or other course material (so called closed-book exam).
During the work on the written part of the exam, student must be connected with both microphone and camera on, such that the camera covers entirely the working part of the table of student.
Student must share promptly the screen of his/her computer upon request.
Student will receive the exam test assignment via email at the start of the exam. Printing the assignment is not required but allowed.
Student must include on some of his or her working sheets the following declaration "I hereby declare that I have completed the test without the assistance of third parties and without the use of materials other than those permitted in advance"
Student must upload a single pdf file including all signed working sheets with the declaration and his/her exam problem solutions.
It is forbidden to make any audiovisual record of the exam. In case of recording by any participant without consent of all participants results in violation of GDPR and may be considered as act in violation of the Ethical Code of Charles University.
In case of lost connection and other technical troubles, student will be promtly contacted by the lecturer with instruction for a reconnection. At the same time, the students must immediately contact the lecturer (students registered for the exam will receive email with detailed instructions). The lecturer will individually assess whether student must undertake the exam again (without loss of an exam attempt).

Student must connect to Zoom meeting at least 5 minutes ahead of the start of the exam according to the announced schedule (15-20 minutes apart) and only upon request will show a student card or ID/passport on camera.
Student will be assigned questions and will have at least 10 minutes to prepare (another student will be examined in the meantime). During the preparation, student must have both microphone and camera on.
Student will have at most 15 minutes to answer the assigned questions. Student must share promptly the screen of his/her computer upon request.

Structure of the oral part: two definitions or theorem formulations 2x5% of the grade, a theorem formulation and proof 15% of the grade, additional question related to the written part 5% of the grade.

Grading 2023/24:
Two homeworks: HW1 for 15% of the grade, HW2 for 10% of the grade (HW1 will be assigned on TBA; HW2 will be assigned on TBA)
Written test: 80-minute test for 60% of the grade.
Oral examination: 15% of the grade
Grading system based on percents of the grade:
0-50 percents ... F ... insufficient (substantial extra work required) 51-60 percents ... E ... sufficient (satisfies minimum requirements) 61-70 percents ... D ... acceptable (with large number of major mistakes) 71-80 percents ... C ... good (solid with few major mistakes) 81-90 percents ... B ... very good (above average with some mistakes) 91-100 percents ... A ... excellent (with minor mistakes)
For a successful exam, it is additionally required to score at least 51% of the written test, i.e. obtain at least 30.5% of the grade or more from the written test.
