The student will:
1. learn basics of the transport theory including non-equilibrium Green function and related techniques for the time evolution of density matrix 2. write hers/his own implementation for simple electron-spin system driven by finite voltage and learn to use and adapt an existing code for more complex structures 3. will provide hers/his own research on an open problem The goal of the project is to investigate transient and steady state transport in systems which induce a spin-polarized current. These structures play an important role in the emerging next-generation nanoelectronic technologies, especially spintronics devices. It is therefore crucial to understand how the polarized current emerges, in which way it can be manipulated and how it can be used. |
