Předběžná náplň práce

Tématem této bakalářské práce je interakce anabaptistických komunit s většinovou společností. Pro tento účel byly vybrány tři největší komunity žijící na území Spojených států amerických a Kanady – amišové, mennonité a hutterité. Tyto komunity, ač mají stejný původ v reformaci v šestnáctém století, se v mnohých aspektech výrazně liší. Práce se bude věnovat zejména jejich interakci se společností, jelikož jsou zastánci izolace od vnějšího „zkaženého“ světa. Absolutní izolace je však nereálná, a proto práce zkoumá, v kterých oblastech a v jaké míře k interakci s okolní společností dochází. To je hlavním předmětem této práce. Pro lepší zobrazení interakce v různých oblastech života je ústřední část práce rozdělena do čtyř kapitol, podle oblastí, ve kterých, dle názoru autorky, dochází k interakci nejvíce a nejčastěji. V každé kapitole jsou dané komunity podrobeny komparaci. V závěru práce jsou zhodnoceny dosažené výsledky výzkumu. Tedy, že v největší geografické izolaci žijí hutterité, díky tomu je jim poskytnuta vetší volnost uvnitř komunity například v oblastech technologií a vzdělaní. Nejvyšší stupeň kontroly vnějšího vlivu mají amišové, u kterých přísným pravidlům podléhá téměř každý aspekt života, jelikož je nelze izolovat geograficky, protože žijí v těsné blízkosti nečlenů. Výjimkou je období rumspringa, to však trvá pouze několik měsíců nebo let. Mennonité jsou amišům v mnohém podobní, ale jsou o něco méně ortodoxní a mají pravidla o něco uvolněnější, a proto je vliv většinové společnosti mnohem více patrný. Obecně o všech třech platí, že je vnější vliv nejvíce znát v oblasti zaměstnání, která odnedávna prochází výraznými změnami, které jsou způsobeny ekonomickou situací a nárůstem populace komunit.

Předběžná náplň práce v anglickém jazyce

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the interaction of Anabaptist communities with the majority society. For this purpose the paper focuses on the three largest communities in the United States of America and Canada – the Old Order Amish, the Old Order Mennonites and the Hutterites. These communities have the same origin in the sixteenth century reformation but they differ in many aspects. This paper will address particularly the interaction with the society, as the communities are advocates of isolation from the corrupted outside world. However, complete isolation is unrealistic, therefore the thesis examines in what areas of life the interaction occurs and at what level. Those are the main questions that this thesis seeks to answer. For a better display of the interaction in different areas of life, the main part of the paper is divided into four chapters pursuant to the areas in which interaction occurs the most according to the author. In each chapter the given communities are compared. The results of the research are evaluated in the conclusion. They include the fact that the Hutterites live in the greatest physical isolation because they are isolated geographically. That allows them to loosen the rules inside the colonies, like for example with technology and education. The highest level of control of outside influence can be seen among the Amish. Strict rules apply to almost every part of their lives because they cannot be isolated geographically as their farms and households are among the outsiders. The only exception is during rumspringa that only lasts a few months or years. The Mennonites are similar to the Amish in many aspects but they are less orthodox and their rules are not as strict, therefore the outside influence is much more visible. Generally, concerning all the three communities, the most influence can be seen in employment that has recently been undergoing major changes caused by the economic situation and the growth of the churches‘ population.
