The aim of this thesis is to study motivations for gambling, in particular the role of risk aversion and accuracy of expectations. The thesis will be empirical, based on a simple questionnaire survey conducted among people, who play casino games. We will collect data about their characteristics, risk preference and their expectations about return and risk profiles of casino games. The results will help us to assess whether gamblers are rational in their expectations. By collecting some data from casinos we will also study how the distribution of gamblers across different casino games varies with respect to their income, age and gender.
