Obor hudební věda je od 2. poloviny 19. století etablovaným oborem humanitního univerzitního studia ve většině evropských zemí a od 20. století také v USA a v řadě dalších zemí na celém světě. Na pražské univerzitě existuje od roku 1865. Studium je v současné době zaměřeno na získání základních poznatků v oblasti metodologie oboru, hudební teorie, hudební historiografie (hudba před rokem 1600 a novější hudba), kulturní analýzy hudby a etnomuzikologie. Důraz je kladen na seminární formy výuky a individuální přístup ke studentům.
Learning outcomes
Absolvent bakalářského studia oboru hudební věda získal základní soubor poznatků, pracovních návyků a metod, umožňujících orientaci v historii i současném vývoji domácí a světové hudební kultury.
Studijní obor je koncipován tak, aby podal teoreticko-praktický vhled do základů hudební vědy v jejích hlavních disciplínách, z nichž klademe důraz na oblast hudební teorie, hudební historiografie v oblastech hudby před rokem 1600 a novější hudby, kulturní analýzy hudby a etnomuzikologie. Absolventi si osvojí samostatnou práci s prameny a literaturou (českou i zahraniční), schopnost analýzy a výkladu uměleckých i jiných hudebních projevů, praktickou a tvůrčí práci se získanými znalostmi. Jsou připraveni jak pro vstup do navazujícího magisterského studia hudební vědy a příbuzných oborů, tak také pro uplatnění v praxi.
Study profile
Musicology has been an established academic field among the humanities at most European universities since the latter half of the 19th century. As the 20th century progressed, the discipline took root and developed in the US and a number of other countries all over the world. At Prague university, it has been continuously practiced since 1865. Our current degree programme in musicology aims to equip students with the basics of the discipline’s methodology, music theory and analysis, music historiography (Western art music before and after 1600), cultural analysis of music and ethnomusicology. Seminar methods of teaching are preferred to frontal lecturing in our courses and an individual approach is emphasized in all our classes.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the bachelor’s programme in musicology have acquired the basics of musicological knowledge, research practices and methods, providing an overview of the history and recent developments in Czech and international music culture.
The degree programme is designed to provide its graduates with the basics of theory and practice of musicology’s main disciplines, with special emphasis on music theory and analysis, music historiography (Western art music before and after 1600), cultural analysis of music and ethnomusicology. Our graduates have acquired skills in sources and literature (in Czech and other relevant languages, mainly English and German), in analysing and interpreting musical structures, and they are ready to practically and creatively use the knowledge acquired in their own research. Having acquired the basics of musicological knowledge, they are well qualified for either pursuing their musicological or other related studies at master’s level or seeking employment as musicology professionals.
