Study profile
Jádrem oboru je studium architektury, urbanismu, sochařství, malířství, kresby, grafiky, uměleckého řemesla, uměleckého průmyslu, designu a návrhářství. Po metodologické stránce zahrnuje studium pramenů, historické literatury o umění, novodobé vědecké literatury o umění, teorii jednotlivých druhů umění a její dějiny, obecnou teorii umění a její dějiny, estetické a filozofické aspekty umění a jeho dějin. Z hlediska aplikace poznání pak obor zahrnuje metodologii, legislativu a praktické činnosti v oblasti památkové péče, galerií, muzeí a výstavnictví.
Cílem studijního oboru je osvojení základních historických i umělecko-historických znalostí o českém a evropském umění, osvojení schopností kritické analýzy uměleckých děl a jejich vřazení do patřičného kulturního a historického kontextu. Během studia získá student podrobný přehled jak o vývoji jednotlivých uměleckých oborů (architektura, sochařství, malířství, umělecké řemeslo atd.), tak o rozsahu a charakteru nemovitého i movitého památkového fondu v České republice. V rámci přednášek a exkurzí se obeznámí s hlavními památkami v evropských zemích, jež jsou pro vývoj evropských dějin umění klíčové (např. Itálie, Francie, Německo, Anglie atd.).
Learning outcomes
Absolvent jednooborového bakalářského studia oboru Dějiny umění má podrobný přehled o vývoji evropského umění a detailní znalosti dějin českého umění. Dále operuje znalostmi dějin teoretického myšlení o umění a vývoje oboru dějin umění, i základním přehledem o souvislostech problematiky dějin umění a dalších humanitních oborů (estetika, historie, filozofie, religionistika ad.). Vedle odborných znalostí má absolvent i jazykovou výbavu, nezbytnou jak pro studium odborné literatury, tak pro případné působení v zahraničí. Absolventi jsou navíc vybaveni základními znalostmi pro práci v památkové péči, zpracování stavebně-historických průzkumů či práci v muzeích a galeriích.
Study profile
The programme is focused on architecture, urbanism, sculpture, drawing, graphic arts, applied arts, industrial design and general design. The methodological aspect of the programme includes studies of sources, art-historical literature, recent scientific publications on art, theory of selected arts and its history, general theory of art and its history, aesthetic and philosophical aspects of arts and art history. From the point of view of applied knowledge, the programme includes the methodology, legal framework and practical aspects of work in heritage protection or in museums and galleries.
The aim of the programme is to offer basic historical and art-historical knowledge in the field of Czech and European arts and to cultivate the ability of critical analysis of works of art and their cultural and historical context. During the course of the study, students gain a general idea of the evolution of the different fields of art (architecture, sculpture, painting, and applied arts) and a general understanding of the scope and nature of movable and immovable heritage in the Czech Republic. Lectures and study trips introduce students to the main European historical monuments of key significance for the evolution of the history of European arts (e.g. in Italy, France, Germany, the UK, etc.).
Learning outcomes
Graduates of the single-subject BA programme in Art History have a detailed knowledge of the development of European and Czech art. They also gain knowledge of the history of theoretical reflection on art and of the development of art history as a discipline, as well as basic orientation in the connections between art history and other humanities (aesthetics, general history, philosophy, religious studies etc.). Besides this specialized knowledge, graduates will acquire the language skills necessary to study specialized literature and to study or work abroad. Moreover, they acquire basic skills necessary for work in surveying historical buildings, heritage protection, and in museums and galleries.
