The study programme in Asian Studies provides comprehensive education of experts in Asian studies drawing on the critical academic tradition. Unique in the context of Czech higher education, the programme continues to offer specializations that are offered by no other Czech universities. Emphasis is placed on good language skills of an Asian region of the students’ own choice, knowledge of the cultural and historical context and the theoretical background drawing on humanities.

Graduate profile for the public:
Mongolian Studies : Graduates have a solid knowledge of colloquial and literary Mongolian, Mongolian history and literature as well as a grounding in issues related to Central Asia. They are qualified for positions in research, translation, diplomacy and culture. Moreover, graduates are qualified to continue in doctoral studies. Their methodological and language skills and the knowledge of the cultural-historical context can be applied in consultancy for state and non-governmental organisations when analysing contemporary social issues.
Korean Studies: Graduates have acquired a comprehensive education in Korean philology including the ability to interpret literary as well as specialized texts in the Korean language, in which they have good writing and speaking skills. They have substantial knowledge of Korean literature, history, culture, and religion that can be applied in research, translation, diplomacy and culture. Moreover, graduates are qualified to continue in doctoral studies. Possible careers outside the academia include public administration, cultural institutions, media and business. Graduates are, furthermore, qualified to provide consultancy services to organisations working with Korean partners in the field of commerce or culture and to assist in their projects in the Far East.
Tibetan Studies: Graduates have a solid knowledge of both colloquial and literary Tibetan language, the history, literature and religious beliefs of Tibetans. Furthermore, they are acquainted with the principles of critical academic work with primary and secondary sources. They are qualified to continue their studies in doctoral programmes at Czech as well as foreign universities or pursue academic careers in educational or research institutions. Possible careers outside the academia include diplomacy, humanitarian organizations, museums, tourism and the media.

They are able to identify and interpret basic issues and formulate their own approaches. Their language and professional skills enable them to continue their studies in doctoral programmes at Czech as well as foreign universities or pursue academic careers as experts in educational or research institutions. They are fully qualified for a wide range of professions – from language-related activities as interpreters or translators to diplomacy, tourism, media and business. Graduates are also qualified for positions in education as Japanese language teachers.
