SP characteristics

The study program in management and supervision is a follow-up master's degree in social work. It is unique in the Czech Republic due to its focus on two specializations, namely management or supervision. A significant benefit of the program is the interconnection of the social services and healthcare sectors, which reflects the need for comprehensive helping practice.

The study program is a response to the urgent need in social and health services to establish social workers - managers and supervisors who have higher qualifications in the field and have acquired specific competencies to orient these services to the highest quality standards according to professional criteria. It therefore aims to prepare graduates who have obtained the appropriate academic and professional qualifications at university level and to prepare them for leadership positions, specialized as managers or supervisors, so that they can best meet the growing challenges and complex requirements in the field of health and social services.

The study program provides two specializations built on integrated shared course base. The management specialization prepares social work-oriented managers for middle and senior management in the provision of social, socio-health and health services with extensive knowledge and competencies in the field of quality management (services). The supervision specialization equips professional supervisors in the field of social, social health and health services, which include social work, with competencies that meet the requirements set by the European Association of National Supervision Associations (ANSE).

Teaching within specializations is thoroughly devoted to knowledge and value-based sensitive practice of change management in organizations that provide social work, interdisciplinary cooperation in multidisciplinary teams and in management specialization also economic and personnel aspects of management and developing management skills. The specialization in supervision is mainly about knowledge and ethical management of methods of supervision within organizations and practical management of individual, group and / or team supervision.
The program emphasizes the development of academic and professional competencies combined by offering a high proportion of practical experience. It therefore aims to provide those who specialize in leadership careers with an interest and understanding of research concepts and methods and those who wish to pursue academic careers and prepare for doctoral studies with a deep understanding of practical competencies.

The program has a strong and explicit European orientation and builds on research and examples of good management and supervision practices at national and international level presented by well-experienced academics and practitioners.

The graduate is entitled to perform the regulated profession of social worker.
