SP characteristics
The objective of Master study program Hydrology and hydrogeology is education of experts with general and specialized knowledge of phenomena and processes in hydrosphere, both in surface water and groundwater
Students will gain knowledge of various effects of human society on water resources and hydrologic cycle including the adverse effects on quality of surface water and groundwater
During Master study the students will be extensively trained both in theory and practice and individually elaborate the diploma theses in the field of hydrology and hydrogeology. They will be prepared for future research or for work in state administration and in private sector.

Graduate profile for the public:
Scientifically oriented absolvents commonly continue in PhD study of similar study program and are employed in research institutions and universities. Job in administration is found by absolvents in organizations subordinated to Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry and Trade or directly in ministries itself. Hydrology and hydrogeology is a topic important for many private companies, both local and regional. Such companies are focused on prospection and providing drinking water resources, the sustainable use and protection. Many companies deal with decontamination of groundwater and surface water environment to protect drinking water sources and to cleanup operations to remove contaminants from environment. Another field where absolvents find job are the water-connected issues during: founding of constructions, flood-protection measures, use of mineral waters, mines, quarries and mineral deposits including its impact on environment, EIA. After reaching the sufficient length of practical training absolvent may run a business individually after obtaining qualification from Ministry of environment. Absolvents work in research institutions such as VUV T.G.M., VUMOP, CHMU and Povodí, in private companies such as Vodní zdroje, Hydroprojekt, Vodohospodářský rozvoj a výstavba, in state and regional administration, protection of environment (AOPK, NP, CHKO).
