Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of the TEB program has a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanisms of theoretical and evolutionary biology with a practical focus on statistical, mathematical or morphometric methods. Thanks to the offered courses of historical and philosophical orientation, it will also gain an interdisciplinary perspective. According to the focus of the diploma thesis, the graduate will be acquainted with the statistical-mathematical or philosophical-historical methodology. The graduate is able to identify the scientific problem, study and summarize its history in a comprehensible way, set his own hypothesis and test it using standard scientific tools (statistics, mathematics, modeling). If the topic of the diploma thesis is more theoretical and philosophical, the graduate is able to discuss the historical-philosophical context of the given issue, identify weak points of theories or definitions and offer her/his new concepts. Especially during the defense of the diploma thesis, the graduate is able to defend her/his opinions, paraphrase the development and background of the given issue and explain clearly the methods of testing the given hypothesis. The graduate can work in positions in standard biological research, in philosophical or historical institutions, in biotechnology companies, but also as a teacher or popularizer of natural sciences.
