The graduate of the doctoral programme in Middle-Eastern Studies is an expert on a specific segment of the discipline, typically covering a specific historical period and/or subculture and/or region or a literary corpus. He/she is capable of professional academic work and has mastered at least one source language at academic level. He/she has a thorough command of the relevant sources and can interpret them in the light of recent secondary literature.
