The Sociology doctoral study program prepares students for advanced and highly qualitifed scientific work in the discipline. Aligned with this objective is the permanent accent on the study of the fundamental theoretical and methodological issues of sociology. The most promising graduates of the master's degree programs are admitted into the doctoral studies ensuring continuity and development of the discipline of sociology and of sociological thinking more generally. The sociology program serves also as the basis for the development of cross-border specializations, such as criminology, organizational development, human resources consulting, social policy, urban development, market research and others. The program cultivates the ability to design and to conduct projects of fundamental research as well as highly sophisticated applications, strengthens presentation and publication skills, prepares students for the acquisition and leadership roles in grant projects, including projects of international co-operation.

Graduate profile for the public:
The program graduates have a deep understanding of key issues in current sociological theory and methodology, they master an extensive range of analytical methods both of quantitative and qualitative research and they have an excellent ability to use these procedures, individually or in a mixed design. They are competent in defining and solving complex research questions, specifying relevant hypotheses, finding appropriate methods for their resolution, and issuing relevant expert opinions. The program graduates find employment as researchers and university teachers or as experts and team leaders in the governmental, commercial and not-for-profit sphere.
