SP characteristics

The study embraces the problems of Czech linguistic studies in all their thematic breadth, analyzing issues of both the present-day language and its development. The theoretical framework comprises Czech grammar and stylistics, linguistic pragmatics, textual linguistics and theory of communication, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, cognitive linguistics and other fields. The applied linguistics is being consistently developed, e.g. research into Czech language abroad, problems of language teaching, critical discourse analysis etc. Empirical research is stressed, especially concerning the language corpora and creating one’s own corpora. Generally the Ph.D. study programme focuses on systematic extending knowledge of current theoretical and methodological approaches and acquiring skills which are necessary for writing a high-quality Ph.D. dissertation and for future creative scientific work of the graduates.
