SP characteristics
Imaging methods deal with diagnostic and therapeutic use of radiological methods. It cooperates closely with all basic clinical fields and it is also connected to some preclinical disciplines.
Modern imaging methods find their application in practically all areas of medicine, especially in the diagnostic process, doctors use CT (computed tomography), MR (magnetic resonance imaging), ultrasound or hybrid imaging methods with positron emission tomography (PET / CT and PET / MR) . Therapeutic use includes e.g. interventional radiology, or administration of radioactive substances for the actual treatment of eg cancer.
Doctoral study program includes theoretical education, clinical work and solving a particular research project. The theoretical part includes the entire width of the field and is supplemented by the mandatory and optional specialized courses. The clinical part is performed on radiological or nuclear medicine or hybrid imaging workplace with regard to the thesis topic. The research part includes solving of a specific research project according to the study program, and publication of its results. The study is completed with the state examination and the thesis defense. Successful graduate will receive a scientific degree of Ph.D.

Graduate profile for the public:
The graduate of the doctoral study program in the field of radiology gains during the study scholarship based on a combination of theoretical studies across the entire field, scientific research and clinical work. The graduate masters either the examining methodology using both classical and modern methods, including diagnostic ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (= MRI), hybrid imaging etc., or they can specialize chiefly in nuclear medicine.
The aim of the program is to prepare a high quality and competitive knowledgeable experts with a Ph.D. degree who are able to work independently and publish scientific results of their work.
The results of the research should have a direct impact on the clinical practice, leading to new diagnostic and therapeutic methods and procedures. Graduates of the program are convincing regarding their knowledge in general medicine, science and research, especially in the field of imaging methods.
