SP characteristics

Anthropological studies focus on the study of people, societies, cultures and interactions through space and time. The program offers three specializations: socio-cultural, historical and philosophical anthropology. These are characterized by different methods of discovering. And, thanks to this, the transdisciplinary program enables understanding of various ways of learning. Socio-cultural anthropology endeavors to understand people and their communities, whether it is in a rural environment, a modern laboratory, a globalizing city or a social network. Historical anthropology interprets historical traces in archives and narratives. Philosophical anthropology reflects upon conditions of creation of concepts of the human individual in Western thought. A variety of methods permits dealing, from complex perspectives, with relevant contemporary problems: the causes and expressions of violence and inequality, the creation of a political system through institutions and ideas, the relation of people to nature and technologies and their interactions, human creativity and variety, etc. Characteristic features of the Anthropological studies study program are students and teachers working closely on projects and studies, emphasis on applied research, and international cooperation. From the beginning, students accompany teachers in the field, whether the field be a city, a library, or an archive.
